Our Story

We are Theodore's Academy, Preschool & Childcare. Founded by Chris Ferry, a grandmother to six, a Siouxland native and successful entrepreneur. Chris identified a need in Sioux City for childcare and preschool. The preschools and childcare centers in the area are great, but there is not nearly enough for the growing families in our community.

Theodore's Academy is located in Whispering Creek, strategically placed to cater to the families in our area. Conveniently located near I-29 and Old HWY 141, easy access to the daycare is essential.

Our Focus

At Theodore's Academy, the best interest of our children and families comes first. Every aspect of what we do is guided by our love for children, our professional ethics, as well as our personal values. We believe a well-rounded education begins when a child is exposed to a variety of activities that will evolve both fine motor and large motor skills. We enroll children 6 weeks to 5 years of age!

Our program has chosen to be influenced by the HighScope Curriculum. Each day provides children with developmentally appropriate experiences. Learning happens throughout the day during each part of the classroom schedule and routine. Caregivers and teachers take each moment and turn it into a teachable moment. The curriculum highlights children's approaches to learning — planning, engagement, initiative, problem solving, and reflection. Teachers set challenging yet achievable goals for each child in language and literacy, social skills, science, math, and physical (large and fine motor) skills.

We follow all DHS guidelines, are a member of the 5-2-1-0 Initiative, as well as working to have a Quality Rating through QRS.

Now accepting enrollment applications! (At this time we only offer full time care.) We are currently taking applications for infants (ages 4–9 months) and 4-year-old preschoolers. Our other classrooms are full, but we still encourage interested families to give us a call to check the status of our waitlists!

Once your application has been sent and deposit has been paid, your child will be placed on a waitlist for the needed classroom depending on age. The waitlist is based off who has returned deposits and applications. Deposits do not go towards the child's tuition. Deposits are non-refundable unless administration feels it is necessary.

A discount of 10% will be applied to the oldest child's rate for families with 2 or more children. A 10% discount will be applied to children with a military parent. A combination of these two discounts is not offered. If one is applied to a child, we are not able to apply the other.

Disclaimer: The families currently enrolled are priority, so there may be instances that hinder other families from starting at the time parents were originally told.
