WHAT’S YOUR GENERAL PHILOSOPHY ON CHILDCARE?

I believe early childhood education is so important for children to be successful in their future. Teachers and caregivers should be guiding children on the journey of learning everything from social-emotional skills, to communication, regulating emotions, as well as literacy, math, and science needed to be successful in school, and in life! There are so many people that believe children should only learn reading and math in order to be successful. Although I know these are important, I believe that teaching children to be kind, and simply how to treat themselves and others goes so far. Setting challenging, yet achievable goals that are developmentally appropriate for each child will ensure learning for everyone at his or her own rate. Just like us adults, not every child is alike! You must allow children to learn and develop at their own pace to gain the most. Above anything, I really want children leaving us at the end of each day knowing they are loved, cared for, and are so special.

HOW DO YOU KEEP PARENTS UP TO DATE ON THEIR CHILD’S DAILY ACTIVITIES OR BEHAVIOR?

Having open communication with parents and keeping them involved is so important! Each classroom and our lobby has a tablet where staff checks in/out children, and documents our entire day: meals and snacks, diaper changes, potty breaks, (only during potty training) daily lesson plans, and more. We can send parents either school-wide, classroom, or private messages through this system so we can communicate quickly and effectively. Along with sharing essential details about the day, we also share fun images of the children completing activities and playing!

WHAT WILL A TYPICAL DAY BE LIKE AT THE ACADEMY?

Days at Theodore’s are chock-full of learning opportunities through play and experience. We strive to include both indoor and outdoor learning experiences and to include music, art, and sensory play each day, along with the core fundamentals. Each classroom has a daily schedule based on the needs of the children in that room!

WHAT EXCITES YOU MOST ABOUT THE ACADEMY?

I am truly excited that the children in our community, as well as my own children, will have a wonderful place to learn and grow. I want the absolute best early childhood education for my children, as do all parents, and I think our special little academy will ensure just that! We have very high standards for our caregivers and teachers, and I cannot wait to continue to learn and grow myself with our new team!
